After multiple weeks of painfully waiting, the question has been answered it’s going to be Paxton Lynch or Trevor Siemian for the Denver Broncos…
News broke out on Tuesday morning that Tony Romo was going to call it a career as an NFL quarterback. From undrafted to leading one of the league’s most storied franchises, Tony Romo is the franchise leader in multiple records for the Dallas Cowboys
He had been linked to the Denver Broncos way back in November of last season. Dallas had built one of the best offensive lines in the league, and it was all meant to keep Romo safe but they drafted a kid named Dak Prescott out of Mississippi State who took the league by surprise.
All of a sudden, Romo who had a few shots left at winning a Lombardi had his job taken over, and rightfully so. This all led to Romo becoming one of the hottest names on the market for two teams: the Houston Texans and the Denver Broncos.
Houston made the first move by trading away a $72 million disaster to Cleveland and eventually getting absolved of their mistake, freeing up some cap space. Soon after the news broke, many began to think that Houston was making enough room to either trade for Romo or sign him (if he were to be released).
While all this happened, John Elway just sat back not reaching for Romo but waiting. It had been made clear all offseason that the Broncos were open to having Romo be their quarterback next season. What Denver was determined not to do was to trade for Romo, which was not in Elway’s plan.
Romo ultimately decided to retire and go into broadcasting, and yes Broncos fans — Romo will replace the great Phil Simms on CBS to color commentate alongside Jim Nantz.
After multiple weeks of enduring pain, the question has been answered.
It’s going to be Paxton Lynch vs. Trevor Siemian.
Siemian vs. Lynch
Just like last season, the race for starting quarterback will be between Trevor Siemian, who showed some promise last season, and Paxton Lynch, a first-round pick last year who struggled.
The Broncos showed enough confidence in Siemian — who had never thrown a pass in his career — to go and lead the defending Super Bowl champions in a rematch of Super Bowl 50 against Carolina.

A lot has changed since September 8th.
The Broncos have lost a few key guys on defense, including one of the all-time greats in DeMarcus Ware, and a beloved coach in Wade Phillips. Despite all the defensive losses, the Broncos seem to have improved their biggest concern — the offensive line.
The Broncos started out strong on the first day of free agency by signing a big name in talented offensive guard Ronald Leary, who was part of such a dominant line in Dallas. As days went by they also signed tackle Menelik Watson, who really hasn’t shown his true potential because of his injuries.
Siemian and Lynch both have a long off-season ahead and both will hope to have success in the newly added system by offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.
