No Tony Romo at quarterback ? No problem. Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch should help the Denver Broncos in 2017.

Well Broncos fans, Tony Romo will not be the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos in 2017.

To hear Romo tell it, it’s all by his choice too. Yeah right. We all know that one guy who goes up and talks to a girl, gets shot down immediately and comes back to tell you how HE didn’t like HER. Tony Romo is that guy right now.

By making sure to let the world know Houston was his first choice and making sure not to mention the Broncos, Romo comes off like a scorned lover.

If Houston was his top choice, he would be having a press conference in Houston. Not giving his retirement speech. Last I checked, Houston needs a quarterback after giving Osweiler the boot (I’m still laughing about that one) and currently sitting on a loaded offense ready to be led by Tom Savage or Brandon Weeden. I’ll wait for you to stop laughing.

Good? Welcome back!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Broncos are sitting in pretty good shape.

Yeah, we missed out on Calais Campbell. And to be honest, it felt a little like we missed out because of holding out on the possibility Romo would be cut. Don’t belittle what Trevor Siemian did last season behind a pretty terrible offensive line and a sad running game.

Next: Trevor Siemian is only as good as the players around him

A quarterback rating of 84.6, 18 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. Add young gunslinger Paxton Lynch to the mix and the future is bright in Broncos Country. A new head coach, offensive coordinator, a revamped offensive line. Perhaps some new offensive weapons (Christian McCaffrey?) will lead to a much more fun offense to watch next season.

And, Broncos fans, we get to listen to Tony Romo describe it all from the CBS booth.
