Jerry Jones has officially informed teams that they are allowed to contact Tony Romo to facilitate a trade. What’s next for the Broncos?
Romo Watch has taken its latest turn.
Monday, Jerry Jones made it known that teams had his permission to contact Tony Romo in order to facilitate a trade. Although the Denver Broncos have taken a very public stance that they will not be trading for the former All-Pro quarterback, this presents the Broncos a very good opportunity to be able to speak with Romo.
The Cowboys informed clubs they are "limited to conversations concerning (Romo's) 2017-19 NFL player contract." (i.e. to facilitate a trade)

What the Broncos would be looking for in a meeting with Romo would be to check into his health, and also see what type of contract he’d be looking into. Whether or not this would actually facilitate a trade is a complete separate issue. However, with the medical check already taking place, and the discussion of a new deal, the groundwork would already be laid for a quick signing once Romo is eventually released.
What shouldn’t be ignored is the impression that would be given out should the Broncos bring Romo in for a meeting.
Teams skeptical of Jerry Jones allowing contact with Tony Romo, believing doing so would confirm trade interest and further delay release

To Werder’s point, this would further build a market for Tony Romo. Is this really the message that Denver wants out there to Jerry? Despite what has been widely reported, the Broncos may have already given Jones the impression that they are willing when they spoke trade just before the owners meetings.
