The Denver Broncos could be looking for some more bodies on the defensive line in the 2017 NFL Draft, and Pitt’s Tyrique Jarrett has lined up a visit…
The Denver Broncos added some much needed size and depth to the defensive line when they brought in Zach Kerr and Domata Peko in March, but they may be looking to the 2017 NFL Draft for more help in the form of Pitt’s Tyrique Jarrett.
Jarrett is a massive human being, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing in at 335 pounds. He was an honorable mention All-ACC performer this past year as a senior, and generated a bunch of attention after the Pitt pro day.
Jarrett wasn’t invited to the Combine, so the whole nation wasn’t subject to this:

Let me just say — big men are not supposed to move that fast. The fact that Jarrett is running that fast at his size is absolutely stunning, but he wasn’t done there. He also threw up 22 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, and showed out for scouts in position drills.
The Denver Broncos were in attendance at his pro day, and apparently very impressed. Of course, they were not alone, but they are going to get to know Jarrett a little bit more after seeing him in person at the pro day, according to multiple reports.

Jarrett’s agent gave some insight as to what he brings to a pro team:
Client Tyrique Jarrett is gonna make a 3-4 team really happy just lining up as a zero technique & pummeling the center all day. #Pitt #H2P

The Broncos are obviously a primarily 3-4 based defense, but they run a lot of hybrid looks. One area where they were weak last season was up the middle, and perhaps a massive man like Jarrett who has excellent athleticism could be of help.
I don’t know if anyone projects Jarrett to be drafted at this point, but the Broncos have a lot of day three picks and plenty of ammunition in round seven. If they want to take a flier on Jarrett at some point on day three, they are well-equipped to do so.
First things first will be Jarrett’s visit to Denver, where he’ll get to sit down with team brass and t he defensive coaches he’d be working with before the Broncos ultimately decide if he’s a player that can help this team.
