Denver Broncos Lose $4.5 Million in Cap Space
By Tylor Walden
The Denver Broncos have reportedly lost $4.5 million from their cap space. What will this mean for the team going forward in free agency and the draft?
Back during the lockout, the Denver Broncos took out some loans in order to help themselves out with the cap space.
Now the team will be paying back that loan to the NFL.
Reported by Cameron Wolfe from The Denver Post, John Elway and the Broncos have repaid a loan from the NFL in the amount of $4.5 million.
Wolfe has reported that the Denver Broncos took out three million in 2011, the highest amount any team can take out. The other $1.5 million was from a 2012 loan.
While losing $4.5 million could make a difference in the long run, it was for the best that the team took it out.
It is also a good year for that loan to come out. The Denver Broncos still have a little over $16 million in cap space to work with this offseason.
No worries, the Denver Broncos were not the only team to take any loans out from the NFL. Wolfe has reported that around half of the teams took loans out during that time.
With around $16 million left in cap space, I am certain John Elway wants to make sure that the next moves he makes are closely observed.
