Friday evening, Tony Romo decided to send out a very clear message to Jerry Jones.  Could this lead to the release of the former All-Pro quarterback?

Remember when Jerry Jones said he wanted to do the “Do-Right-Rule” when it came to handling the Tony Romo situation?  Well that didn’t exactly happen.  Romo was told he’d be released upon the beginning of the league new year on March 9th, allowing him to enter the free agency market with every other free agent out there.  Well that didn’t happen, as Jones opted to hang on to his prized quarterback in order to force teams to trade for him.

Jones is essentially holding Romo hostage, not allowing him to move on, and holding up the plans for both the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans.  Due to this game that Jones is playing, Romo has seemingly grown restless and unhappy.  Friday evening, Romo took to Instagram and sent a very real message to Jerry Jones through a very interesting medium:

This video is no accident.  While it is an adorable video of his child, it is a clear and concise message to Jones; we had a deal Jerry!

Tony Romo clearly wants to be released.  It’s no secret that he would like to find a new team, settle in, and move on.  The Broncos and the Texans are the the two most likely destinations for Romo’s services.  While they are both waiting, you had better believe they would both like for Romo to be released as well.

This is a game that is now being played by both sides.  Jerry did wrong by Romo, going back on his word and making a business decision to try and get something for his asset.  As a result, it seems like Romo is no longer willing to play along.  While this was a very subtle message, it will be interesting to see what else comes out shortly if Jerry does not grant his release.

Between this video, and the Josh McCown visit to the Jets (yes, the Cowboys are interested in McCown as a backup,) Jerry could decide that enough is enough and allow both parties to get on their way.  However, if he decides to stand firm, things could get uglier.  What was supposed to be an amicable separation could become a nasty divorce if Jones isn’t careful.

Stay tuned…
