In the seventh round, you’re looking to take shots on guys that can possibly make an impact on special teams or be a worthwhile developmental project. The Broncos are planning on carrying three quarterbacks this offseason, and depending on what happens with Trevor Siemian and Tony Romo, I would really like this pickup.
Dobbs wasn’t consistent at Tennessee as a passer, but he flashed the ability to be an NFL quarterback and I think Mike McCoy and Bill Musgrave could extract the best out of him.
Marquel Lee is a very productive linebacker prospect who brings an ability to contribute on special teams as well as be a developmental edge player. He finished his Wake Forest career with 291 total tackles, 42 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles. At 6-3, 240 pounds, this is the type of prospect that could be a great late-round gem.
The smallish Taylor has some of the quickest feet in this year’s draft class. While we drafted Ryan Switzer early on, Taylor is the type of player who could potentially land on the practice squad in his rookie season, and pay huge dividends down the road. He is not only an excellent slot option, but a dynamic return specialist as well. The Broncos can’t have too many options to throw back on punt returns, as we all well know.
