I don’t know exactly the type of value the Packers would be looking for in a trade like this, but the Broncos would likely have to pay a pretty steep price to move back into the first round. It could make some sense, however, because of John Elway’s propensity for poor second and third round picks.

The Broncos will, of course, take advantage of the depth at tight end in this year’s class at some point, and I would personally prefer it be sooner than later. Evan Engram is a big, fast playmaker and a mismatch in the passing game. Adding both he and Christian McCaffrey to the Broncos’ offense is going to give opposing teams nightmares.

Engram has shown a willingness to block, which some have questioned because of how often he splits out as a receiver. He is bigger and faster than most of the nickel backs, safeties, and linebackers that attempt to cover him.

As far as the value in the trade for the Broncos, like I said — it’s a steep price to pay. But with the strength of this draft at tight end, especially at the top, this is a move that makes sense to upgrade an offense that was one of the league’s worst in 2017.

With this selection, coupled with the addition of Christian McCaffrey, your roster is set up for success on offense at the skill positions for the foreseeable future.
