The Denver Broncos have reportedly agreed to terms on a four-year contract with free agent offensive guard Ronald Leary, including $20M in guarantees…

The Denver Broncos appear to have found a new starting guard in former Dallas Cowboy Ronald Leary, according to multiple reports.

Denver Broncos fans certainly aren’t going to hate this news. There’s nothing sexy or glamorous about adding offensive linemen with some of your biggest assets in free agency, but when your quarterback is getting hit less and running lanes are opening up more often, it’s a lot easier to brag on someone like Leary, who is now a huge piece of the Denver line.

Leary was once an undrafted free agent out of Memphis, who became a starter for the Dallas Cowboys on a full-time basis in 2013 at left guard. He was the Cowboys’ full-time starter at left guard until injuries forced him out of the lineup five weeks into the 2015 season, where he was replaced by rookie La’El Collins, and didn’t start again until Collins got hurt in the season finale.

In 2016, Collins entered camp as the projected starter, but injuries forced him out and Leary came back in, despite rumors that he might be traded before the start of the season.

Leary was phenomenal this past season for the Cowboys, who enjoyed an incredibly successful season as a unit offensively. Specifically, the offensive line in Dallas helped pave the way for rookie Ezekiel Elliott’s breakthrough season. Leary has been a key part of some of the best offenses in recent NFL years, and is a phenomenal pickup for the Broncos.

There are some injury concerns there, but Leary is just 27 years old and someone the Broncos feel they can build around on the inside of their offensive line.

As Leary is a left guard by trade, it’s likely the Broncos will move Max Garcia to right guard, and have him battle for a starting position with 2016 rookie Connor McGovern.
