In the next installment of the Denver Broncos free agents, I take a look at long snapper Thomas Gafford and determine if he should be re-signed or let go.

We are almost finished with the unrestricted free agents for the Denver Broncos. And with free agency about two weeks away, it will be interesting to see who stays and who goes.

Next up on the list is long snapper Thomas Gafford. He was brought in by the Denver Broncos during this season due to the injury of Casey Kreiter.

Long snappers are not talked about a whole lot in the NFL. Their job is simple. Snap the ball to the place holder or the punter without any problems.

When Kreiter went down due to injury, it was a big deal to have a long snapper to get the job done. Especially with how kickers have performed since the extra point was moved back.

Thomas Gafford is a challenging player to rate on the keep or let walk situation here. For one, he is a journeyman who has been with six different teams.

Most of those teams, he has only been with for one season.

Another factor is his age. He just recently turned 34, so it is interesting to see where he stands.

Not to mention that long snappers are pretty difficult to value on since they are only expected to really snap the football.

I honestly believe that Thomas Gafford’s status with the team will be how the Denver Broncos approach the Casey Krieter situation.

It is basically choose your weapon in this situation. Whom would the Denver Broncos feel more comfortable with going forward.

Would you like the veteran or the guy who virtually just started last season?

I saw for this instance, the veteran stays.
