Terrell Davis was finally inducted into the Hall of Fame after a short, incredible career with the Denver Broncos. He was the star for a generation of fans…
Heroes get remembered, but legends never die…
There’s no question that Terrell Davis is and will always be a legend in the minds of Denver Broncos fans. To say that everyone is stunned by the news that Davis is now a member of the NFL Hall of Fame is an understatement…
There’s heroes, and there’s legends. At least, that is what I’ve been led to believe by one of the greatest movies of all-time, The Sandlot. But I might have to disagree with that statement just on a surface level for a moment. For me, Terrell Davis was both a hero and a legend, someone who helped ignite a passion for football that has grown every year since my youth.
Of course, like every Denver Broncos fan, I grew up knowing that John Elway is the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. I knew about Shannon Sharpe, Ed McCaffrey, Rod Smith, Darrien Gordon, Steve Atwater, Neil Smith, Bill Romanowski, and the whole gang. It was Davis, however, that sparked my true love for football.
Terrell Davis had it all.
The only running back in the history of the league to win MVP, Super Bowl MVP, and run for 2,000 yards in a single season had a cool factor that was unbeatable. He made the number 30 synonymous with his name.
Whether it was trading cards, action figures, jerseys, or playing with the Broncos in video games, everyone loved Terrell Davis. I know I did.

When I became a Denver Broncos fan as a kid, it was right around the time Davis was destroying NFL defenses. John Elway was obviously still playing at a high level, but no one in the NFL could touch TD. His dominance propelled the Broncos to their first and second Super Bowl wins and gave way to a whole generation of fans.
Those who grew up in the 80s grew up with Elway. If you were a 90s kid, sorry Elway, but for me it was Davis.
He made the salute the coolest touchdown celebration in backyard football. He showed unbelievable work ethic and humility on the field and off, even when his superstardom was stripped away by knee injuries.
It was a short career, but that didn’t make it any less remarkable. Congratulations to one of the greatest to ever play, to someone who will now be immortalized in Canton. Mile High salute to you, Terrell Davis — NFL Hall of Fame running back.
