This feels like another position that is pretty well set heading into the 2017 season. CJ Anderson, Devontae Booker, Kapri Bibbs and Juwan Thompson is a solid stable of backs to run out there game in and game out.

Throw in Mr. Facemask Breaker himself, Andy Janovich, at fullback and this is a solid, young group. Some talk has come up saying “wouldn’t it be cool if Denver drafted Christian McCaffrey??”. For sentimental reasons, yes. It would be awesome to see the son of Eddie Mac in a Broncos uniform. Functionally, no. Where would he fit? Would he take snaps from Anderson or Booker or Bibbs?

Maybe. But Denver would have to use a high draft pick to grab him and there are just too many other glaring needs to use a high pick on a position that doesn’t need the help.

According to Pro Football Focus, the highest rated free agent running backs (outside of Le’Veon Bell since he isn’t going anywhere) are Eddie Lacy and Jacquizz Rodgers. Again, not a real position of need so I wouldn’t expect more than a free agent veteran for depth or a late round draft pick.
