If Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak does indeed step down after Sunday’s game, options to replace will include Miami DC Vance Joseph…

With Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak expected to step down after Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders, speculation has already begun as to who might be the next head coach of the Super Bowl 50 Champion Denver Broncos.

The first name connected to the Broncos by major media outlets is also a man who was a strong candidate the last time the Broncos had a head coaching vacancy. That man is Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

At the time of his previous consideration, Joseph was a defensive backs coach and was allowed to interview with Denver for their head coaching position before they ultimately decided to hire Gary Kubiak. Ironically, Joseph’s interview came right after the Broncos interviewed offensive coordinator Adam Gase, who is now the head coach in Miami.

The Broncos wanted to hire Joseph as their defensive coordinator, but he remained in Cincinnati as the team’s defensive backs coach before moving to Miami this past year to take a defensive coordinator position. He’ll again be a hot head coaching candidate this year, and has already previously expressed interest in coaching the Denver Broncos.

Regardless of ‘who’, the Broncos really need to find a long-term solution for their head coaching position, and we’ll talk more about that as the days progress. If Joseph, who is only 44 years of age, could be that guy, it would be fantastic. There are other young head coaching candidates like Kyle Shanahan available, and this is certain to be one of the most critical junctures of John Elway’s career as an executive.
