With the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars playing for the 12th time in NFL History, I take a look at the best game played between these two teams.

The Denver Broncos are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars for the first time since the 2013 season.

Unless these two teams end up in the same place in their division, these two teams normally meet every three years.

The last meeting was at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, where the Denver Broncos won by a score of 35-19.

In this series, the Denver Broncos trail 6-5. The Jaguars are one of the few teams that actually lead the series against them.

In fact, the Jacksonville Jaguars have won five of the last seven meetings since John Elway retired.

Hopefully, the Denver Broncos will look to tie the series back up with a second straight win against the Jaguars.

Since there are not a lot of games played between these two teams, (the Jaguars came into the league the same year Carolina did in 1995) I will be looking at the biggest game played between these two teams.

It was a special one for the Denver Broncos.

December 27th, 1997

52. 42. 45. Final. 17

For the 1997-98 Denver Broncos, their playoff run was known as “The Revenge Tour.”

In the AFC Playoffs, they would go up against teams that had beaten them within the calendar year. The first game was a home meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Last season, the Denver Broncos were the No. 1 overall seed and many believed that this was the year the Broncos would have won the Super Bowl.

But Jacksonville stunned the Broncos in the Divisional Round by a score of 30-27. The two teams met again in the Wild Card round the following year.

The Jaguars did not make things easy for the Broncos, as the home team was clinging to a 21-17 lead going into the fourth quarter.

However, the Broncos, led by John Elway, led the team and outscored the Jaguars 21-0 in the final quarter to win the rematch by a score of 42-17.

In that final quarter, Derek Loville had two rushing touchdowns. He was primarily Terrell Davis’ backup but played well in the final quarter. He recorded 103 yards on the ground while Davis accumulated another 184 during the game.

The Broncos used the running game to win, rushing for 310 yards in the game.

Denver would go on to play the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers to reach the Super Bowl, where they defeated the Green Bay Packers to win the first Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
