Brandon Marshall could be one solution to the Broncos offensive woes. Bringing him in would be the happy medium between Eddie Royal and Delanie Walker. Either way, it would be another sorely needed security blanket.

This would be a trickier deal, since Marshall makes $9.5 million and the Broncos only have $9 million in cap space. But of the teams whose seasons are obviously over, it’s hard to find a better receiver.

The other intriguing Jet is 25-year-old pro bowl defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson. He thought he was leaving the team last year, saying they “just can’t keep everybody on this defensive line. It’s just not realistic. Guys out-played their contracts. I’m going to miss them. We grew up together, pretty much, in the league. They helped me through a hard time in my life. So it’s just going to be tough.”

Richardson is on a one-year deal with the Jets worth $8 million, so the Broncos wouldn’t have to trade any players to fit him under the cap. He could add some serious punch to their defensive line, replacing a lot of the terror missing from the interior, while also bolstering the run defense, but he certainly wouldn’t come cheap. At least one first round pick would be involved.

The Broncos have serious needs all across the offense and could definitely use another defensive lineman (and perhaps a coverage linebacker, but now we’re just being greedy). Elway has proven to be an aggressive GM, so I would expect the Broncos to be active in trade discussions over the next couple weeks. With any luck, we’ll find ourselves with a shiny new toy to help shore up the offense.
