9. Washington Redskins (12)

Like the Bills, the Skins have bounced back from an 0-2 start to make their way into the top-10 of these rankings.  Captain Kirk should be back in good graces in the Redskins locker room.  The NFC East is shaping up to be a really good division.

10. Kansas City Chiefs (17)

Kansas City just went in to Oakland and laid the wood on the 4-1 Raiders.  Honestly, it would have been even worse if their kicker was any good.  Santos didn’t have his finest day, but the Chiefs did.  The Chiefs have certainly been hot and cold this season—sometimes even in the same game.  When they are hot they are pretty good though.  Either that or the Raiders 4-1 start was just a mirage.  We’ll see.

11. Denver Broncos (7)

What a difference two weeks can make.  Two weeks ago the defending champs were clearly a better team than the one that just won the Super Bowl, and a 14-2 or 15-1 record looked like a legitimate possibility.  The offensive line has regressed in every game they’ve played this year, and now the Broncos are at a true crossroads in their young season.  Will this be a low point in an otherwise stellar year, or are they on their way out of the playoffs for the first time since John Elway took over as Vice President of Football Operations?

12. Oakland Raiders (8)

The Raiders are extremely fortunate to be 4-2, given the fact that they have a -11 scoring margin for the entire year.  To put that into context, the Broncos, also 4-2, have a +32 scoring margin.  Perhaps their true colors were revealed Sunday, as a test against a playoff opponent from a year ago wasn’t particularly close.  Winning close games is fine when you have a good defense.  However, when it’s the offense winning close games and the defense is struggling like the Raiders, usually it doesn’t end well.
