Denver Broncos mock draft: The hope of Broncos fans seems to be nearly unanimous, but could Christian McCaffrey really drop into Denver’s laps?

Ed McCaffrey is one of the most beloved players in Denver Broncos history, and fans are hoping his son Christian McCaffrey can become another Broncos great.

McCaffrey, who was a Heisman runner-up in 2015, is entering his junior season at Stanford. He’s one of the best players in all of college football, regardless of position. He’s also eligible for the 2017 NFL Draft and Broncos fans would love nothing more than to see him suiting up for the team his father played for and won two World Championships with.

This kid is absolutely unreal with the football in his hands.

We saw all of last season the kind of big play potential McCaffrey has, but it’s more than just his ability to run the football. He’s a phenomenal return specialist and a great pass catcher out of the backfield. If you’re already putting together a Denver Broncos mock draft, how realistic is it to think he would fall into John Elway’s lap?

Would the Broncos even think there’s a need to take him?

In my opinion, the type of football player McCaffrey is, there’s no question that if you have an opportunity to add him to your squad, you do it. Especially a team as strong as the Broncos that is built on running the football. McCaffrey could be a major asset. The only question we should all be asking is how high will Elway have to move to get him?

After seeing this photo, is there any price too high?

"Christian McCaffrey was unstoppable, even on a night when he was completely stoppable https://t.co/CD8qvvyhNR https://t.co/TsyU4iRpNh— SB✯Nation CFB (@SBNationCFB) September 3, 2016"

The thought of a no. 30 jersey with the name ‘McCaffrey’ on the back of it is something that is borderline mean if it doesn’t actually happen. The Denver blood runs deep with this kid, though it didn’t convince his older brother, Max, to sign as an undrafted free agent with the Broncos this offseason.

In fact, Max wound up signing with the Oakland Raiders, and didn’t make it past the final cuts.

Perhaps the next McCaffrey to enter the NFL will make amends for what his brother has done.

All kidding aside, the thought of the Broncos pairing McCaffrey with C.J. Anderson and Devontae Booker is incredibly tempting. Especially when you consider the talent the team has accumulated at wide receiver, and the ability of Paxton Lynch within this offense down the road.

The potential with McCaffrey as a slot WR when he’s not being used as a running back as well as his abilities on special teams make him an ideal pick for this Denver team. If the only question is whether or not John Elway can make it happen, I think we have our answer.
