NFL Predictions: A Look at Every NFL Game This Season
By Steven Kriz
Week Nine
Thursday, Nov. 3rd-
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
Coming off a big win, the Falcons come out with an awful lot more confidence and the Matt Ryan to Julio Jones show continues on from last week, into the first half of this week. At halftime the Falcons lead the Bucs 24 to 3. Over right? Wrong. When everything is all said and done, this night belongs to Jameis Winston as the night he came a superstar. A four TD second half performance by Winston brings the Bucs way back for the win.
The Pick: Buccaneers 34 Falcons 31
Sunday, Nov. 6th-
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens:
The Steelers/Ravens rivalry is one of the best in the NFL, and is always a close game, regardless of quality of team, records, etc. Did we think this one was going to be any different? This game goes wire to wire and is decided on a last second field goal.
The Pick: Ravens 23 Steelers 20
Dallas Cowboys at Cleveland Browns:
The Cowboys are starting to resemble the team for 2014 far more then the team of 2015. The offensive line is dominant, the running game is as good as it gets, and Romo is healthy and making good decision. A lot of the same happens on this day, as a relatively boring game turns into a relatively easy Cowboys win.
The Pick: Cowboys 23 Browns 13
Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs:
The young Jaguars have surprised a lot of folks around these parts with their great start to the season, but great defenses are tough for young teams to overcome. The Chiefs defense has their way with Blake Bortles and the Jags offense on this day.
The Pick: Chiefs 24 Jaguars 10
New York Jets at Miami Dolphins:
The Jets come out hot down in South Beach and don’t ever look back. Fitzpatrick has his best game of the season to date, and the defense knocks Ryan Tannehill around all day long.
The Pick: Jets 35 Dolphins 24
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants:
In the race for third place in the NFC East, the Giants look like the clear better team on this day. Carson Wentz is still a rookie—Eagles fans should keep reminding themselves of that through four turnover efforts like these.
The Pick: Giants 30 Eagles 16
Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings:
The Lions are really playing good football on the offensive side of the football this season, and the trend continues against the Vikings. Stafford puts up three TD’s, against only one INT, and the Lions pull out a tight victory on the road. Could the Lions be for real?
The Pick: Lions 27 Vikings 23
Carolina Panthers at Los Angeles Rams:
The Panthers week and and week out continue to show why they are not only the favorites to reach the Super Bowl again, but also to win it this time around. CaMVP continues to show why people call him Superman, and the Panthers defense looks as tough as ever.
The Pick: Panthers 34 Rams 7
New Orleans Saints at San Francisco 49ers:
The 49ers have had a tough time this year in Chip Kelly’s first season, a season in which most assumed would be a rebuilding year. The performance against the Saints is one they can tip their hat on, as it was a strong day in all three phases.
The Pick: 49ers 28 Saints 18
Tennessee Titans at San Diego Chargers:
The Chargers don’t look at all like a one win team on this day as they put up a great performance against a team that many consider to be the worst in the league. Phillip Rivers throws for four TD’s, and the Titans could only manage a TD and a field goal for the entire day. It’s a good win for the Chargers.
The Pick: Chargers 31 Titans 10
Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers:
The Colts have had a nice bounce back season after a tough 2015, but the Packers are simply too much team on this day. Jordy Nelson catches two TD’s and finishes the afternoon with 202 yards on 12 catches.
The Pick: Packers 34 Colts 13
Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders:
This was supposed to be the year the young Raiders passed the Broncos in the standings with Peyton Manning now gone, and the Raiders winning the offseason. Nope, try again Oakland. The Raiders don’t advance the ball past midfield until midway through the fourth quarter, at which point it is far too late. The Raiders get a couple scores late against the Broncos backups, but really, the game has been in hand since the first quarter.
The Pick: Broncos 30 Raiders 10
Monday, Nov. 7th-
Buffalo Bills at Seattle Seahawks:
The bills are simply outmatched on this Monday night in Seattle, as the Seahawks do a great job keeping Tyrod Taylor in the pocket, and the Bills cannot do the same with Russell Wilson. The Panthers may be the favorite, but the Seahawks are going to give them a real run for their money in the playoffs.
The Pick: Seahawks 24 Bills 6
