4. Right Guard Solved?

(@CamParker22)

The Denver Broncos are expected to have a revamped offensive line with the additions of Russell Okung and Donald Stephenson. However, there is an opening at the right guard spot because of the loss of Louis Vasquez making it one of the more intriguing in preseason this year.

Darrion Weems has been getting the bulk of reps with the number one offense, but there is a name to watch in tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Connor McGovern, the fifth round draft pick out of Missouri is a true offensive guard. McGovern is a mauler in every sense of the word (squats 500 pounds!), who loves to eat defensive linemen for breakfast.

In the third preseason game, we typically see the offensive starters play further into the third quarter. Weems is the most likely candidate to be named opening day guard, but McGovern will overtake him during the season. Therefore, expect McGovern to take the majority of the reps in the game against the Rams sealing his fate as a future guard with the Broncos.
