Just two days after Vance Walker tore his ACL in practice, the Denver Broncos defense suffered another hit as Derek Wolfe left practice with an ankle injury. According to reports, Broncos Country can let out a sigh of relief.

From OTA’s up until the first preseason game of the 2016 season, the Denver Broncos were in good shape all around health wise. But in the last few days, the Broncos have suffered some injuries to key players.

First, Bennie Fowler got hurt and could miss the remainder of the preseason. Vance Walker was next as he tore his ACL on Monday. And now, the other defensive end was forced to leave practice early due to injury.

Derek Wolfe rolled his ankle during a joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers. He walked off the field on his own power, but appeared to not be able to put any weight on his leg.

Later on in the day, it was determined that the injury was not serious and that he should be able to make a full recovery. This is good news since ankle injuries tend to be tricky to deal with.

There is currently no timetable for his return, but it was reported that there is a chance Derek Wolfe could miss Saturday’s game against the 49ers.

However, I feel as if that could be the best move for Derek Wolfe and the Denver Broncos. It will give him a chance to rest while the Broncos coaching staff take a look at the other defensive linemen that are the roster.

Even better for the Broncos players that are fighting for a roster spot on the defensive line, we will get to see a bit more of what they can do. And Saturday might be a perfect time to do so. The Broncos really flexed their muscles against the 49ers during a joint practice.

Wishing Derek Wolfe the best in his recovery. We can breathe easy that it is not as serious as it could have been. And let’s get ready for Saturday night against the San Francisco 49ers.
