Denver Broncos cornerback Lorenzo Doss, a second-year pro out of Tulane, can’t help but pick off passes and is having an awesome training camp…

For the Denver Broncos, improvement in the secondary seemed like a difficult task after last year’s dominance. Considering this team has the best overall secondary in the league, it would seem nearly impossible to make something that’s already the best better than what it previously was.

Second-year cornerback Lorenzo Doss is making sure Broncos fans not only know his name, but know that he can make this team — and specifically the secondary — better than what it already was.

Doss is having a monster training camp, and in the first preseason game against the Chicago Bears he picked off a pass, continuing the work he’s been doing against Broncos quarterbacks the last three weeks.

Against the 49ers in joint practices on Wednesday, Doss was up to it again…

Nine interceptions is an incredible number for an individual player at this point in camp. Doss has a 10th if you include his pick against the Chicago Bears, and is all over the field taking the football away.

But he’s not just taking the ball away, he’s taking it the other way and scoring it.

Doss’ continued improvement is a huge development for a defense that wanted to become more dominant this season than it was last year. There’s no question about it — the Broncos received a fair number of ‘lucky’ breaks last season, but you don’t get that lucky over the course of 19 or 20 regular/postseason games.

Still, if they wanted to get more dominant, then adding the ability to create more turnovers would certainly do the trick. With Lorenzo Doss having such a huge training camp, they are simply going to have to find ways to get him on the field.

What a phenomenal problem to have.
