Despite the success he’s had in his 32 years of owning the Denver Broncos, Pat Bowlen was not selected as a finalist for the HOF.  Who was selected ahead of Bowlen as a finalist for the HOF? Let’s take a closer look and find out.

Pat Bowlen, the Broncos long time(and long admired) owner was in the running to be a finalist for the contributor position in the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year. Despite the great achievements that Bowlen has accomplished as an owner, he was not chosen by the HOF Sub-committee to become a finalist. So who got in ahead of Bowlen this year? Former commissioner Paul Tagliabue and Jerry Jones. Yeah, the guy that runs the Cowboys.

So how should this make us, Broncos Country, feel? Honestly, pretty pissed off.

Bowlen was a strong presence amongst the owners in expanding the league on TV and increasing overall revenue for the NFL.

He was also integral in expanding the NFL’s borders beyond the US, having the Broncos play games in two different continents. He was also a big part in negotiating the latest CBA between the NFL and NFLPA.

Need more proof that Bowlen is a FAR more qualified HOF candidate than Jerry Jones? Well, here you go.

Just think about that. As owner of the Denver Broncos, Pat Bowlen has had more seasons end in the SUPER BOWL than with a losing record. That’s incredible! That stat alone should have been enough to move Bowlen’s name forward for HOF consideration.

This situation just disgusts me. Despite all of the evidence and history favoring Bowlen, the sub committee intentionally snubbed him. They snubbed him for an owner that is still ACTIVE in his team’s operations.  That alone is criminal, in my opinion.

Broncos Country, what do you think of this decision? Did Pat Bowlen get a raw deal by the HOF sub committee?
