Before we get started, Zaire Anderson wears, number 50, not 47 (his old number). The wild card at linebacker appears to be in high regard of both Gary Kubiak and Wade Phillips. They spoke highly of the hybrid linebacker/safety from the University of Nebraska today in practice.

“Wade and I were having a nice conversation about him on the field today. He’s probably one of the players that has come the furthest. The only thing that holds Zaire back is the total understanding of the defense because he has to make calls. He has to do all that. His effort, how he plays and his reactions are really good now that he understands the defense. You’ll see a better player.”

This is high regard for a player once on the practice squad last year with the Broncos. As you might recall, current Broncos running back CJ Anderson spoke with media member Vic Lombardi about Zaire Anderson. CJ Anderson spoke highly of Zaire, telling Lombardi to write that name down and that Zaire has the same story as fellow linebacker, Brandon Marshall.

Zaire Anderson is a bowling ball of a linebacker and more of an old school thumper from the position. Broncos’ fans and the defense will be fortunate if Zaire can play to the potential of Marshall. Zaire continued his impressive Training Camp and preseason making his presence felt on special teams and with Ronnie Hillman (injured his back because of Zaire’s big hits).
