The Denver Broncos opened the preseason against the Chicago Bears looking sharp, looking hungry, and most importantly — looking focused.

This is a team that returns all but one coach from last year’s staff, and a core of players defensively that are the envy of the league. With improved play from the offense, the Broncos are a safe bet to win a sixth straight AFC West title, but there are questions that need answering.

That’s why the preseason is so important in the NFL, and why it’s so important for the Broncos this year in particular.

The 2015 season may be in the books, but the Broncos are far from finished writing their page in NFL history. This defense is legit, and they proved it without many of their top playmakers on Thursday night.
