The Denver Broncos have released nose tackle Phil Taylor from the injured reserve list on Wednesday, making him a free agent.

The Denver Broncos had brought in former Cleveland Browns first round draft pick Phil Taylor in hopes that he could help strengthen the defense that was a force to be reckoned with. However, that hope was dashed when he got hurt and placed on injured reserve. The Broncos wasted no time later on down the road.

Heading into their first preseason game against the Chicago Bears, the Denver Broncos have terminated the contract of NT Phil Taylor by releasing him from the injured reserve with an injury settlement. He was placed on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury back on July 29th, a day after the Broncos began training camp.

Because he was on injured reserve, there is no need for the team to make a roster move to fill his spot.

This is a tough day for the former first round draft pick. After his rookie season in Cleveland, in which he was a solid force on the Browns defense, he saw his production falter. He only played five games in his final season as a Brown before being released before the 2015 season began.

After spending a year away from the game, the Denver Broncos took their chances on Phil Taylor when he signed with the Super Bowl Champions just two weeks after the Broncos beat the Panthers to win their third Super Bowl in franchise history.

His chances to make the roster were pretty solid until training camp, when he hurt his knee and was placed on injured reserve. Now today, he has been terminated from the injured reserve list, effectively ending his short stint with the Denver Broncos.

I do not see this move impacting the Broncos at all since he was already on injured reseve, but this could be the end of Phil Taylor’s playing career. He will have to wait a bit longer while he recovers from his injury. As with all players, I would like to see them succeed. But sometimes, it is just not in the cards.
