Denver Broncos rookie Devontae Booker has stood out to everyone watching practices, including his teammates…

It was stated at the time of the 2016 NFL Draft, but the Denver Broncos really got a steal in running back Devontae Booker. The rookie out of Utah has made a strong impression in almost every regard, and looks like a young player that could come in and contribute immediately.

Head coach Gary Kubiak updated everyone on the progress his fourth round back is making thus far in training camp…

“He’s impressive. Today, he was really doing some great stuff. He’s right there. We know how he’s pushing our veteran players. The thing that’s been impressive with Booker, is how well he’s done mentally, football wise. He’s keeping up on third down. We have a really good player there, so we’ll see how far he can come. We’ll play him a lot in the preseason. It’ll be up to him. We’ll see.”

Co-no.1 quarterback Trevor Siemian has also taken notice of how well Booker has acclimated himself to this offense and this team in such a short amount of time.

“I think a lot of guys are doing good things. If you look at [RB Devontae] Booker, ‘Book’ is doing a heck of a job picking everything up. You see noticeable strides that he’s taking every day.”

Cornerback Aqib Talib has had plenty of time to observe practice, and has liked what he’s seen from the rookie running back as well.

“Devontae looks great. He’s putting his foot in the ground. I think he is going to be a good player for us. It’s a lot of guys out there making plays.”

With C.J. Anderson coming off of another strong finish last season, the addition of a player like Booker could give the Broncos a fearsome group of tailbacks. He’s certainly proven the kind of explosive playmaker he can be at the collegiate level, and Kubiak referenced the fact that he’s going to get a ton of playing time this preseason to show what he can do.

The Broncos appear to have a natural on their hands, and Booker is the kind of guy that could steal a ton of carries early on in his professional career.
