Day 13: Broncos Training Camp Observations

Preseason Preview #2
Broncos will see former teammate Danny Trevathan as the team face the Chicago Bears on Thursday airing on NFL Network and local TV. The team now is looking to replace Trevathan on the roster and Todd Davis is more than likely going to get the first shot at the position. Davis has spent most of camp with the number one defense and is the projected starter to fill the void left by Trevathan. He is an absolute gamer who’s instincts are off the charts, yet there are other linebackers who could take his position.
Corey Nelson is a versatile linebacker who could be vital on the team’s defense. He is the better pass rusher than the three vying for the position, but has shown power from the inside to be given cracks at the second team defense. Nelson can take the spot away from Davis because of versatility, but due to more reps with the ones, Davis will likely be given the nod.
The wild card of the mix is Zaire Anderson. Anderson made a strong statement in the preseason last year and has continued his impression in camp this year. Just ask Ronnie Hillman if Anderson has a shot at the position. Hillman was hurt by Anderson a couple days into Training Camp and has now seemed to recover nicely. Anderson is a different type of versatile from the linebacker spot. He is a former safety, who could see a better shot at the starting gig because of the coverage skills at linebacker. Both Nelson and Anderson have received second team defense reps in Training Camp the past couple practices.
