A couple practices in, the Broncos appear to be nearing full strength on defense. Broncos will take on their former coach John Fox and the Chicago Bears, Thursday on local TV and NFL Network. Right after practice, Gary Kubiak stated the Broncos will announce their starting quarterback for the preseason opener. We will get a better identity of the offense Kubiak would like to run.
Speaking of offense, the role of CJ Anderson is expected to expand this year after receiving the contract he deserved in the offseason. John Elway and rest of the front office decided to give Anderson a low tender. Anderson would later visit the Miami Dolphins and new head coach Adam Gase, in which, they would offer Anderson a contract. Broncos would later pony up to pay their now starting running back matching the Dolphins deal.
Broncos secondary got a big boost today in camp as Aqib Talib arrived into Training Camp on day twelve of Training camp but the eleventh practice. Talib is facing a possible suspension after his incident in Dallas in the offseason. In the absence of Talib in Training Camp, the Broncos saw the production of Lorenzo Doss and Kayvon Webster rise.
Also in camp, the Broncos expanded the roles of Russell Okung and Super Bowl MVP, Von Miller in Training Camp. Both players are expected to have important roles on both offense and defense. Miller is coming off his terrific playoff performances against the Steelers, Patriots and Panthers, respectively. Okung signed a team friendly deal with the Broncos securing the left tackle spot for the team on offense.
Today, in camp Mark Sanchez had another gaffe in practice. Sanchez is a veteran and there is no need to have mistakes while teaching the young Broncos quarterbacks the position. This may be why Paxton Lynch has seen his play encounter rookie mistakes. Sanchez must impress the coaches in preseason number one, but taking a knee during a two minute warning with no timeouts is concerning.
Next: CJ Anderson
