Denver Broncos tight end Virgil Green, the projected starter at the position, had a huge breakout day of practice on Thursday…
“Virgil [Green] is the red-hot player of the day here in Dove Valley,” Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said. “What a day he had. He made a bunch of plays in the redzone. We have a little bit of a program we are working on with Virgil. We are trying to keep him healthier than we have in the past. I think he’s responded…”
Denver Broncos tight end Virgil Green is entering his sixth year in the NFL, but he might be entering a breakout season.
The Broncos have high hopes for Green, who is the projected starter in their offense and a guy who has been patiently waiting his opportunity since making the roster in 2011 as a seventh round pick, then earning a second contract with the team last offseason.
Green was lighting it up at practice on Thursday, and set Broncos Twitter abuzz…

Virgil Green is having a great day. Huge red zone threat w/ TD catches from Siemian, Sanchez and Lynch. Can still win that starting TE spot.

“I was just competing, going for balls and trying to make sure I came down with them,” Green said after his huge day. “I dropped a ball earlier in practice and I did not want to make that mistake again. I took advantage of my opportunities, made some plays and had fun out there today.
Every day you have to go out there and be consistent. That’s my biggest thing. I can make plays. I can do all the other things. I just have to be consistent and show them that I can do those things every single day.”
These are the kind of stories you love to see coming out of training camp.
