Rookies will be rookies. After two lights out practices, and plenty of praise from his head coach, Paxton Lynch came down to Earth after a day off on Tuesday. There were always going to be days when it wasn’t as easy, and today was one of those days for the young signal caller.
Lynch was reported as being wildly inaccurate with his throws today, making lots of overthrows, and a throwing a bad interception to Lorenzo Doss, who continues to make plays out at Broncos Camp.
Perhaps the fact that he got a chance to work against a No Fly Zone defense today that had an extra chip on their shoulders after being chewed out publicly by defensive coordinator Wade Phillips following Monday’s practice.

It’s no doubt that this defense is going to shake the confidence of any young quarterback, especially a raw rookie, still figuring out the speed of the NFL game.
After singing his praises just two days ago, Coach Kubiak wasn’t letting Paxton off the hook today, as he reportedly ripped into his young quarterback on a few different occasions. Kubiak let it be known after practice that he wasn’t happy with any of the quarterbacks play today, as none of them had a particularly good day.
Lynch is really starting to hear it from Kubiak. Been an absolutely awful day for the rookie.

While day to day improvement was going to be very important for Paxton Lynch to secure the starting job for the Broncos, days like this were always going to come. For Lynch, it’s going to be about taking this day, and improving on the mistakes he’s made. You can still take a step forward, even on a horrible day if you learn from from what you’ve done.

One of the impressive qualities that has been displayed by #PFL to this point has been the resiliency the rookie has showed. Even on what has been described as a disastrous day, Lynch found a way to put it all behind him and lead the third team to a touchdown on the final move-the-ball portion of camp, going 4-4, all for first downs, and firing a nice touchdown pass to cap off the drive.
Tomorrow will be a big day for the young quarterback. If he can come out and have a strong day tomorrow, this will show his maturation as a young quarterback, and display once again the quality to bounce back from a strong showing. It is okay to have a bad day, but that needs to be followed up by a great day.
Time and time again a season ago, Peyton Freaking Manning was downright awful for three and a half quarters, only to deliver that one huge drive to put the game away. Certainly the Broncos would like to see more good days then bad

from Lynch, but if he can show that even on a bad day, he can still deliver at the finish, this could be something that works in his favor.
This quarterback race is still in the beginning stages, and there will be more ups and downs to come. But if Paxton Lynch can finish the quarterback race the way he has been finishing practices, he will still have a shot to be the starting quarterback on Banner Night against the Carolina Panthers.

Stay tuned.
