Koht was really productive as an interior lineman for FIU this past season, racking up 47 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks, and a forced fumble. His production as a senior got him noticed by NFL scouts and he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks before being waived nearly three months ago.
The rookie has an intriguing build at 6-5, 279 pounds and should work with the Broncos as a defensive end in their base defense.
Koht was trained in martial arts growing up, and isn’t the only Broncos defensive lineman with some fighting background off the field. Derek Wolfe was trained as a boxer for a period of time.
The move is pretty typical of training camp, where teams look for guys that can possibly come in and make their practice squad as well as the 53-man roster. Koht will have a chance to compete at one of the deepest positions on the Broncos’ roster, and has intriguing length and strength.
Bill Kollar will certainly have some fun with him.
Jenkins was an intriguing small school pass rusher that came to the Broncos in their initial wave of UDFA signings. He’ll now try to latch on elsewhere.
