The wide receiver position may be the deepest in camp and Cody Latimer showed why in the early morning and afternoon camp. Latimer had flashes today of why the Broncos drafted him the second two years ago in routes and drills against the first team.

In fade to the corner route drills against safety TJ Ward, Latimer beat Ward on a change in route by going in rather a fade. Ward would close quickly, but the strong possession catch was an eye opener and this is something Latimer will need to do more of to make a more pronounced move up the depth chart. The B1G produces elite receivers and the Broncos take notice. Latimer proved to be a strong possession wide out while at Indiana, but it has yet to translate to more consistent play in games.

Latimer has all the tools to be a strong number two receiver; however since Bennie Fowler has outperformed him last season hard to see that happening any time soon. Special teams is where Latimer has made his mark last year and do not expect that to change either. Latimer proved to be a reliable gunner on special teams providing a big hit to keep the returner right where he is on the field.

Look for Latimer to continue his great success on special teams.
