Britton Colquitt’s place was unsure early in the offseason and still is in question because of the addition of draft pick Riley Dixon. Dixon, early today in camp hit punts that sounded like the ball was shot out of a cannon. The athletic punter (yes, that is a thing), has a monstrous leg that could benefit from playing at Mile High.

Colquitt saw his directional punting pick up late in the season last year and certainly is capable of duplicating that performance. Dixon in the mix for punter with youth and athleticism could push Colquitt out of the starting lineup and on to another team. In a different position, this is not the first time the Broncos have added competition before on special teams. The Broncos starting kicker, Brandon McManus replaced Matt Prater who had incidents later issuing a release. Dixon, could add the competition at punter to force Colquitt to be more consistent. If not, his place on the roster will be no more. Typically, those decisions are made before the end of the preseason.
