Backup Inside Linebackers

Corey Nelson

Corey Nelson has been a solid contributor on special teams for the Denver Broncos. During his limited playing time on defense, he has recorded 16 tackles and a sack. He could be a dark horse candidate to win the inside linebacker job next to Brandon Marshall.

He has a long road ahead of him though. Preseason and training camp will tell a lot, but there is no doubt that Nelson could see more playing time in 2016.

Zaire Anderson

Perhaps the one player that is becoming a dark horse candidate to replace the production of Danny Trevathan, Zaire Anderson was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent last season and spent time on the practice squad after missing the cut on the 53-man roster.

It will be interesting how Anderson performs in the preseason and training camp. I see a situation where he can play a part on special teams.

Other inside linebackers Dekoda Watson, Frank Shannon, and Dywane Norman could just be camp bodies. However, I would not sleep on Watson due to his experience.
