Evaluating the Denver Broncos: Defensive Line

Backup Defensive Tackles
Darius Kilgo
Kilgo was a sixth round draft pick for the Denver Broncos in the 2015 NFL Draft. During the offseason and training camp, a lot believed that he would really push Sylvester Williams for the starting defensive tackle position. Sly prevailed in the end, but Kilgo did see some time on the field.
During his rookie campaign, he recorded six tackles in nine games. He was mostly a game day inactive but made the most of his opportunities. Now in year two, I look for Kilgo to take the next step.
Phil Taylor
Phil Taylor is the Cleveland Brown’s former First Round pick from back in 2011. He was a big time standout during his rookie year with the Browns. Unfortunately, it would be his ceiling with the Browns as inconsistent play forced the Browns to release him after the 2014 season.
One year removed from football, the Broncos took their chances and signed Taylor this offseason, two weeks after they won the Super Bowl. If Taylor can get back to his dominant rookie year, I believe this could be a solid pick up for the Broncos.
Other nose tackles David Moala (Utah State) and Kyle Peko (Oregon State) could have a legitimate shot at making the roster. Peko has been praised to be a dark horse candidate.
