Justin Simmons

Simmons, a third round pick out of Boston College, tested out as the most athletic safety in the entire 2016 class of players. In fact, his athletic measurables were up there among the best of the best at the safety position for the last few years.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Simmons is going to come in and pick off eight passes as a rookie (although that would be nice), but I think that his game translates really well to the NFL level and he will have an instant impact as the top safety reserve behind T.J. Ward and Darian Stewart.

It’s highly unlikely that both of the Broncos’ starters at safety plays a full 16 game schedule with their reckless style, so there’s a decent chance that Simmons will start a game or some games this season.

If that happens, he could immediately prove to be the Broncos’ best safety in coverage, and he will certainly be making an impact on special teams.
