The Denver Broncos and superstar linebacker Von Miller officially have one week remaining to work out a deal, or suffer the consequences. Things appear to be moving in the right direction, as it was reported over the weekend that John Elway reached out to Miller in attempt to clear the air. According to the reports, Elway’s message was simple; “We want you back”.
While no numbers were exchanged, it seems that things will begin picking up again today:
Jason Cole, from Bleacher Report reported earlier today that Joby Branion, the agent for Von Miller, and Elway have been negotiating throughout the week, and the Broncos have increased the guaranteed money in their latest offer to Von, and yet was not enough to consummate a deal. Cole has been notorious for throwing out information that has been completely incorrect in the past, so take what he says with a grain of salt. However, Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver has chimed in, indicating that a new offer was made to Von yesterday.
What is for sure is the Broncos have a desire to get this deal done, and their best offer is still to come. These negotiations will probably go right to the wire, so don’t be surprised if the new deal isn’t announced until 3:45 pm EST on Friday, July 15th.
The Broncos and Miller need to put feelings from the past month aside, and figure out a way to come to a common ground. If the Denver Broncos have any chance of winning another Super Bowl, Miller needs to be a Bronco, and a happy Bronco at that. Time is ticking, so hang out to your hats and wait and
see how this all plays out. Once this deal is wrapped up, its going to by All-Systems-Go for training camp, the Broncos can begin to turn their focus to winning another World Championship.
