The Denver Broncos have upped the offer for Von Miller.
The two sides have made progress early this Friday afternoon as the Broncos are willing to go to a third year in guaranteed money, which has been one of the sticking points to agreeing to a deal.
Miller, SB 50 MVP, has established himself as the top player on the Broncos defense and top ten player in the NFL right now. For the Broncos to come to a new agreement, Miller and the franchise will have to raise the guaranteed money to close to $65 million for Miller to put pen to paper.
UPDATE: The Broncos have upped the offer to Miller recently within the last couple hours and Miller’s camp is expected to sleep on the offer.
If people recall this happened with wide receiver, Demaryius Thomas last year. It is different from the point Thomas was using Dez Bryant’s as leverage for his own negotiations; however, Miller is using multiple players for a new contract. Fletcher Cox and Olivier Vernon are the new benchmark for a deal with Miller. Cox was given close to $64 million in guaranteed in his deal with the Philadelphia Eagles; while Vernon signed possibly the biggest shocker in free agency passing for $52 million in guarantees passing the great JJ Watt.
The last time I checked, Von Miller is better than both players by a wide margin. Terms of the upped guaranteed money in the new contract is unclear, but the movement between the Broncos brass and Miller is a good sign to a contract being agreed upon. Now, with the Broncos new offer north of $60 million, I would expect Miller to decide on the new deal.
