The Denver Broncos and Emmanuel Sanders have put their contract talks on hold. With the Von Miller franchise tag deadline coming up, it makes all the sense in the world.

Emmanuel Sanders has stated that he wants to remain a Denver Broncos player for a long time to come. And there is no doubt that the Broncos want to reward him for all of his time and efforts on and off the field. However, the contract extension will have to wait at least for one week.

Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver has reported that contract talks between Emmanuel Sanders and the Denver Broncos have been placed on hold for the time being. No need to panic on this development, but it makes sense.

With the deadline on Von Miller looming, it makes all of the sense in the world to place the contract talks with Sanders on hold. The Super Bowl MVP is looking to become the highest paid defensive player in the league. With that takes time, and I am sure Elway and company will want to lock him up for a long time.

Another reason not to worry is that Emmanuel Sanders still has one year remaining on his deal. If for some reason it does not work out before training camp ends, they can always try for something during the regular season. In fact, during the last two seasons, the Broncos were able to lock up Chris Harris Jr. and Derek Wolfe to deals before the team’s final game.

However, I also understand how important it is to lock up Emmanuel Sanders sooner rather than later. He will be a big part to the Denver Broncos offense, especially when it is time to Paxton Lynch to start at the helm.

The recent contracts that have been signed by other receivers have not made things easier either. Doug Baldwin’s new deal with the Seattle Seahawks was quite a deal for him. Four years for $46 million is a lot of money. I am certain both parties will be looking at that deal to find something to work with.

As we know, for Emmanuel Sanders, money will not be an issue. To him, championship rings are more important and playing the game. He even said himself that the Broncos would have to kick him out.

The next couple weeks will be interesting. In regards to Sanders, I have no doubt we will sign him.
