9. C.J. Anderson
A couple of months ago, it certainly seemed like C.J. Anderson was going to be part of the mass exodus out of Denver, but John Elway and the front office prioritized him after Brock Osweiler bolted for the Texans.
Anderson was given a contractual slap in the face (seemingly) with his RFA tender, which was the lowest the Broncos could have offered. There would have been no draft compensation for Anderson’s signing elsewhere, so the Broncos essentially let him hit unrestricted free agency, though they had the opportunity to match an offer.
The Dolphins front-loaded a relatively team-friendly deal over the course of time, and though the initial guaranteed money was a tough pill to swallow, the Broncos opted to match.
Anderson has been the best second-half running back in the NFL over the last two seasons. In 2014, he made the Pro Bowl essentially off of half a season’s work.
He’s proven he can do it all at the RB spot, and the Broncos are going to count on him a lot this season as he leads the running game.
