The Super Bowl 50 champion Denver Broncos are taking a trip to the white house on Monday, and Brock Osweiler declined an invitation to attend…
If Brock Osweiler feels like he’s making the right career decisions this offseason, it’s coming at the expense of some historical moments in his time in the NFL. Osweiler was invited to come to the White House with the Broncos on Monday, but declined to attend. Instead, he’ll be taking in another day at Texans OTAs.
All of the players who signed in Chicago this offseason to reunite with John Fox — Danny Trevathan, Omar Bolden, and Aaron Brewer — and presumably many of the other former Broncos who are now with other teams will be attending the White House ceremony.
As they should. It’s possibly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Osweiler also decided to not attend the retirement press conference of Peyton Manning. That’s not really as big a deal in my opinion, but declining the invitation to the White House seems to be a real shot at his opinion of the Denver Broncos and the time he spent there.
Maybe that’s just me.
It’s an honor to be a Super Bowl champion, and something that Osweiler seems to have taken lightly. Is he going to decline his Super Bowl ring as well?

I think Osweiler needs to man up and attend the White House ceremony. He spent four years in Denver with a lot of these guys. He was — as much as we all hate to think about it now — a big part of our run last year. He didn’t do anything overly spectacular, but he stepped in when the Broncos needed him, and made some plays, and helped get the team to the top seed in the AFC.
The Broncos made him a good offer in free agency, he just didn’t want to be in Denver anymore. That’s fine, but I’ll bet players like Champ Bailey would give almost anything to be at a White House Super Bowl celebration.
Osweiler, apparently, won’t even give up a day of OTAs.
That playbook must be pretty tough down in Houston.
