Broncos Offseason: The Denver Broncos are looking to add the fullback position to the offensive game plan in 2016. Could sixth round draft pick Andy Janovich become an unsung hero for the team?

The full back position is one that is rarely used in the NFL today. My initial thought was that the Broncos were going to use one during the 2015 NFL season, but it seems like they never did so. It was not all lost though seeing as how the team won Super Bowl 50.

In 2016, it appears as if Gary Kubiak wants to start using the full back in his offense. It makes sense as the team is looking to execute more of a zone blocking scheme.

Not to mention having a full back could really help the running back get to an open lane and to prevent a linebacker from blowing up the play in the back field.

The Denver Broncos used one of their sixth round draft picks on a full back this offseason. When Andy Janovich was first mentioned, I was a bit puzzled for two reasons. One of which is that I did not expect the full back position to be addressed and I have never heard of the prospect in question.

Perhaps this means for next year’s draft, I need to do more research on more players. But that is besides the point.

Andy Janovich should play a huge part in the Broncos offense this season, especially when it comes to the running game. That aspect of the offense struggled coming out of the gate last season, but did pick up some steam as the season went on.

Next: OTA's are a huge opportunity for Shane Ray

Perhaps adding Janovich to the offensive gameplan will get C.J. Anderson, Ronnie Hillman, and Devontae Booker going. If the offense could get a balance of run and pass going, there is no doubt this team could repeat as champions, especially with the defense.

If Andy Janovich can duplicate the same kind of drive, passion, and hard work that Howard Griffin brought to the Broncos at the full back position, then I have no doubt that the draft pick out of Nebraska will do great things for the Broncos for years to come.
