Broncos Offseason: With Mark Sanchez set to miss the beginning of organized team activities due to surgery on his thumb, first round draft pick Paxton Lynch has a great opportunity to make a huge impression on the Denver coaches.

Even though the recovery time for Mark Sanchez’s thumb surgery will not keep him off the field for very long, the former Memphis quarterback has a golden opportunity in front of him to make an impression on the coaches of the Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos.

Paxton Lynch will most likely be named the “OTA starter” while Sanchez recovers from his surgery on the thumb on his non-throwing hand. While he sits out, Lynch will get the chance to work with some of the first team players.

Trevor Siemian will most likely get that same opportunity, but Paxton Lynch was drafted to eventually become the Denver Broncos starting quarterback of the future.

"Sanchez vs. Lynch Vet vs. Rook"

"Paxton Lynch has a real shot to win the job early on."

With this opportunity, Paxton Lynch will get the chance to work with players like Emmanuel Sanders, Demaryius Thomas, and the other starters and stars of the offense. Timing between a quarterback and a wide receiver is key in the success of the offense.

This opportunity also gives Gary Kubiak a chance at some extended work with the first round draft pick. While Sanchez is most likely going to be the opening day starter against the Carolina Panthers, Kubiak will get to see how Paxton Lynch does during OTA drills to give him a good idea where the quarterback situation is heading into training camp.

Next: Garrett Graham an underrated pick up for Broncos

Could Paxton Lynch do enough in the week that Sanchez is gone to earn the starting job going into training camp. Impossible. But that does not mean that he could be the starter down the road.

I believe this week would give Lynch a great opportunity to put in extra work in order to show Broncos Country what he is capable of before training camp. If he can give it 110 percent starting with OTA’s and going into training camp and preseason and puts it all out on the field, I have no doubt we will see No. 12 on the field at some point during the 2016 Denver Broncos Season.
