Denver Broncos: OG Connor McGovern signs rookie deal
Denver Broncos rookie offensive lineman Connor McGovern, a fifth round pick out of Missouri, has signed his rookie contract.
Denver Broncos rookie offensive lineman Connor McGovern has signed his contract, according to the team.
McGovern was a fifth round pick (144th overall) out of Missouri who started at both tackle and guard in college, but figures to move inside to guard for the Broncos.
Safety Mykkele Thompson was the 144th overall selection in last year’s draft, and he received a four-year contract from the New York Giants worth just over $2.5 million.
Since under the new CBA rookie wages are slotted based on where you are drafted, the contract McGovern just signed shouldn’t be too far off of that number.

McGovern brings toughness and great strength to the table for the Broncos, in addition to versatility and athletic ability. Even as a fifth round pick, he figures to be in the mix to possibly start at the right guard position with Max Garcia presumably competing with Ty Sambrailo for the left guard slot.
All of that will be discussed at length as we move closer to training camp.
The Denver Broncos have now signed the vast majority of their draft class, including McGovern, Justin Simmons, Devontae Booker, Andy Janovich, Will Parks, and Riley Dixon. The last remaining members of the class to sign their rookie contracts are first rounder Paxton Lynch and second rounder Adam Gotsis.
Those deals are also basically pre-determined based on draft slot, so they should get done relatively soon.
