Britton Colquitt

The Broncos spent a seventh round pick on a punter. A versatile punter. Never would there be a scouting report that reads such things, but Riley Dixon’s addition spells bad news for Britton Colquitt.
Colquitt struggled early in the season on his punt yardage, but picked it up with a flurry late into the season when the Broncos needed it in big games. A release of Colquitt would mean good news for Von Miller, Emmanuel Sanders and Brandon Marshall because of his salary. At 4.25 million guaranteed, Colquitt’s contract expires in 2017. It is important for Colquitt to improve from his late success in the 2015-2016 season.
This is not the first time the team added depth to special teams. Matt Prater was the starting kicker for the Broncos, but due to his own personal problems he was later released giving the job to the Brandon McManus, the unsung MVP of the franchise. McManus has a strong leg and was undrafted. Dixon also has a strong leg for a punter averaging 42 yards per punt while at Syracuse.
Of all the bubble choices, Colquitt is the most logical to not make the roster because of competition on the roster with Dixon and Miller seeking a historic deal.
