This may shock people, but despite a better season last year, Cody Latimer is on the bubble for a roster spot in my opinion. Due to his role expanding under Brock Osweiler and the system Gary Kubiak wants to run, it will more than likely not happen.

Latimer has a huge fan in myself, but the lack of production is alarming and the emergence of Jordan Taylor (thanks to Peyton Manning) this is an important camp and preseason for Latimer. Latimer has the body size to be a solid number two receiver, but tough to see that happening with Bennie Fowler seeing more reps than Latimer. Broncos are deep at the position; which makes it difficult to find players to release or cut. Latimer, obviously is not a practice squad option, but John Elway and the Broncos have shown faith in the their draft picks (except for Montee Ball).

A release would be a shame for Latimer and the blame, if there has to be such, should be placed on John Fox for not playing the second round pick at all in Latimer’s first season. Injuries damaged the chances for Latimer and inability to pick up the playbook at the time. Latimer has shown improvement from year one to year two, nonetheless this is a bigger year for him to show he belongs on the roster.
