John Elway told Denver Sports 760 that he believes that Paxton Lynch is going to be ready quicker than a lot of people think. Could this be a sign that he will be ready to start sometime in 2016?

Broncos Country was excited when John Elway and the staff signed former Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch in the first round in last week’s draft. It was believed that he would wait at least one year before starting for the Broncos.

However, Elway believes his time to lead the Denver Broncos could be sooner than expected.

Elway met with Denver Sports 760 and when asked about newly drafted quarterback Paxton Lynch, Elway had this to say about him.

This is a very interesting development. If Lynch can be ready by the season opener against the Carolina Panthers, it would begin the Lynch era a lot sooner than a lot of people anticipated. I, for one, would be really surprised. But at the same time, I would be alright with it.

Of course, if Paxton Lynch does end up starting right away, we can expect some growing pains. I will not anticipate him winning all 16 games in his rookie year. (But that sure would be something to see wouldn’t it?)

I believe this will be possible if Lynch is able to quickly adapt from his offense from Memphis to the under the center offense that is Gary Kubiak’s. But I think for a quarterback like him, it will not be a difficult task.

With rookie minicamp beginning today, Paxton Lynch will get a quick start to learning the offense. The other biggest step to the offense is being able to communicate and gel with his teammates. Emmanuel Sanders, Demaryius Thomas, Jordan Norwood, and the others should be able to help the process along.

If Paxton Lynch is already getting praise from John Elway that he is going to be ready a lot sooner than most anticipate, then he must believe in his abilities to quickly learn the offense.

While we are not sure if that shapes to be that he will be ready to start the season opener, it is a good sign that the Lynch era could start sooner rather than later.
