The Denver Broncos added depth to their safety position with the 98th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Expect Justin Simmons to play right away in sub-packages.
The Denver Broncos added depth to their secondary by drafting Justin Simmons out of Boston College. The 6-0 202 pound safety will be added to the mix of a replacement for David Bruton and Omar Bolden, who left in free agency to the Washington and Chicago, respectively.
Simmons is a big, versatile cornerback and safety who could be a starter given time to learn under Darian Stewart and TJ Ward. Sub packages and filling Bruton’s role right away appears to be the most likely avenue for Simmons to succeed.

Our 3rd rd pick is Justin Simmons, a big rangy safety from Boston College. He's a center fielder with great cover skills.

The #Broncos just took one of my favorite safeties Justin Simmons with the last pick of round 3. Would have been perfect for #Bears

To me, Justin Simmons was fringe RD1 talent. Unreal athleticism. Reliable, hard-hitter. Playmaker in coverage. Nice situation with #Broncos.
