The Broncos have selected Georgia Tech DL Adam Gotsis with the 63rd overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Let’s take closer look at Gotsis and how he fits on the Broncos roster.
To end the 2nd Round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos have selected Georgia Tech DL Adam Gotsis. Who? Well, let’s try to find out some more info on the guy…
SCOUTING REPORT:
PROS
Native Australian who played Australian rules football before switching over to the American game
Solid 3-4 DE size at 6’4, 287 lbs
Tough player with great leadership skills
Aggressive tackler
Good motor
CONS
Suffered an ACL injury this past November. May not be ready in time for Training Camp
Does not project to be a three down player in the NFL. Widely expected to be a two down run stuffer
Has only played a few years worth of American football, so his game is still in need of some refinement
HOW HE FITS:
Gotsis will join a strong Defensive Line group that will enable him to play in the rotation and hopefully, get the most out of his potential. The one thing that is going for the Broncos with this pick is DL coach, Bill Kollar. If anybody can get the most out of a DL prospect, Kollar is the guy to do it. Fortunately, the strength of the Broncos DL group will allow the team to properly bring Gotsis along at their own pace and not rush him into action. Some analysts are comparing Gotsis to Derek Wolfe, in terms of upside.
Hopefully he can develop into that caliber of player. Stay tuned to Predominantly Orange for further Draft coverage!
