2016 NFL Draft: During Tuesday’s NFL Nation Mock Draft, Jeff Legwold drafted for the Denver Broncos and had them selecting Ohio State safety Vonn Bell.

Because Mock Season is just about over, we are going to provide you readers with another mock draft. This is one that took place on ESPN last night. The NFL Nation Mock Draft is where ESPN writers for all 32 teams give us their selection on who they believe their team will take in the first round.

Jeff Legwold is the Denver Broncos reporter for ESPN and he was asked to draft for the Broncos in the NFL Nation Mock Draft.

And for the Denver Broncos, Legwold has selected Vonn Bell, who played safety at Ohio State University.

What I found interesting about the pick was that Robert Nkemdiche was still on the board. With the Broncos in need of defensive line, Legwold decided to go with safety in the first round.

The reasoning behind Legwold’s pick is below.

Broncos go for best player available. While the free world wants the Broncos to go quarterback, the Broncos had two pro bowl cornerbacks in 2014 and selected Bradley Roby. In 2015, they had two pro bowl edge rushers and drafted Shane Ray. Because of that, they look at how this board fell. They do look at quarterback. But in the end, with the 31st pick, the Denver Broncos select Ohio State safety Vonn Bell.”

Todd McShay goes on to say that Vonn Bell is the best cover safety of this draft and brings versatility to the secondary and the Broncos could use it to create some matchups advantages.

I am a fan of this move. If for some reason the Broncos do not draft Paxton Lynch or the two defensive linemen in Robinson or Nkemdiche, then this would not be a bad move.

Next: Broncos hiding true intentions at quarterback?

However, I have to agree with McShay that it is odd to grab him with a first round pick when Bell is a day two pick. However, by the time it came for the Broncos to draft, there was not a lot of players that would have interested me a whole lot either.
